The details below will provide some general language describing certain specific AUPE roles and their associated salary ranges. Additional information will also need to be added to the template in order to ensure specific job and research related information is included if you are proceeding to recruit.

Budgeting for a Research Role

- Works with the Principle Investigator and supports the research team through providing semi-skilled or skilled technical procedures
- May include conducting laboratory tests, experiments and analysis to assist in the goals of the research
- Records findings to contribute to publication within the field of the research at both a national and international level
- Assists the Principle Investigator and supports the research team through providing semi-skilled or skilled technical procedures
- May include conducting laboratory tests, experiments and analysis to assist in the goals of the research
- Records findings to collaborate on publications within the field of the research at both a national and international level
- May include in-scope supervision of other lab staff, managing the laboratory and research projects as well as ensuring that as technologies change, the laboratory adapts to and learns the new technologies
- May support other research projects by providing knowledge, skills, and on-the-job training to others
- Works closely with the Principal Investigator in areas of protocol development, standard operating protocol development, development of research projects and proposals
- Contributes by conducting experiments, designing project plans, and mentoring and training others to achieve the goals of the research project(s)
- Applies specialized skills and knowledge in the maintenance and development of core systems and complex processes
- Plays a critical role in the high level leadership of the group, working closely with the Principal Investigator to determine the course of the group
- Includes contributing to research and funding strategies, identifying and helping to secure funding opportunities and shaping the vision, direction and structure of the group
- Plays a key role in all activities undertaken by the research team spanning from hands on technical tasks to high level leadership and visioning
- Has expert knowledge of the hands-on work performed as part of the operations and development activities of the group
- Prepares and submits documentation and other deliverables, technical and financial, required by funding agencies and collaborators
