UCalgary at Beakerhead
Join us at the annual crossroads of art, science and engineering where you’ll find UCalgary research presented in delightfully bizarre engineered installations and artworks.
What is Beakerhead?
For decades, people have been directed into either technical or creative streams, yet it is precisely at their intersection where ingenuity lives. That’s where you’ll find Beakerhead.
Beakerhead was incubated in UCalgary’s Schulich School of Engineering and originally incorporated under the university. Beakerhead, a not-for-profit organization, culminates in a five-day citywide spectacle with more than 60 events. 145,000 people took part in the Calgary-wide event in 2017.
The UCalgary community have been active participants in programming since the first year of the festival in 2013. Faculty members from several faculties – Arts, Kinesiology, Science, Schulich School of Engineering, and others – have presented their research to the public at Beakerhead
