Commerce/Actuarial Science

Bachelor of Commerce

Courses required in your first year

Note

1. Students who delay completing the junior English course beyond first year may have difficulty registering for it in a later year due to registration restrictions.

2. Mathematics 267 and 211 or 213 are prerequisites for many 300 level courses in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.

3. MGST 217 and SGMA 217 may be completed in either the fall or the winter term of Year 1. It is recommended that these courses be taken in separate terms.

4. Highly qualified students may be allowed by the department to take Computer Science 235 and may substitute 235 for Computer Science 217 or 231.

Students admitted to only one of the BComm or BSc (Actuarial Science) degree programs, with the intent of applying into the combined BComm/BSc (Actuarial Science) degree program in a later year, are instructed to contact advisors in each Faculty prior to course registration.

Students who are not admitted into the BComm portion of their intended combined degree in first year and want to apply to Haskayne in the future, would need to complete 18 specific units (6 half-course equivalents) including ECON 201 and 203STAT 213* and 217* or equivalents, MATH 249 or 265, and a 200-level ENGL course by the end of the winter term in the year of application.

*In these combined degrees, Statistics 321 and 323 replace Statistics 213 and 217, respectively, which are required in the Bachelor of Commerce program.
