Commerce/ Mathematics

Bachelor of Commerce

Courses required in your first year

Note

1. Students who delay completing the junior English course beyond first year may have difficulty registering for it in a later year due to registration restrictions.

2. Mathematics 249 is open only to students without Mathematics 31 (or equivalent).

3. MGST 217 and SGMA 217 may be completed in either the fall or the winter term of Year 1. It is recommended that these courses be taken in separate terms.

4. Students intending to pursue an Honours degree in Mathematics should replace Mathematics 211 and 271 with Mathematics 273 in the fall term and Mathematics 213 in the winter term. Both Mathematics 273 and 213 require 90% in Mathematics 30-1 and Mathematics 31.

Students admitted to only one of the BComm or BSC (Mathematics) degree programs, with the intent of applying into the combined BComm/BSc (Mathematics) degree program in a later year, are instructed to contact advisors in each Faculty prior to course registration.

Students who are not admitted into the BComm portion of their intended combined degree in first year and want to apply to Haskayne in the future, would need to complete 18 specific units (6 half-course equivalents) including ECON 201 and 203STAT 213* and 217*  or equivalents, MATH 249 or 265, and a 200-level ENGL course by the end of the winter term in the year of application.

*In these combined degrees, Statistics 321 and 323 replace Statistics 213 and 217, respectively, which are required in the Bachelor of Commerce program.
