1.Degrees and Specializations Offered

The University offers an interdisciplinary specialization in Computational Neuroscience in the following faculties and graduate programs:
  • Cumming School of Medicine, Neuroscience
  • Faculty of Science, Physics and Astronomy
The specialization is offered at the MSc (thesis-based) and PhD levels.
2. Admission Requirements

Admission into a graduate program that offers the interdisciplinary specialization and the submission and approval of a written request to the specialization director to join the specialization. The program is open to both Canadian and international students.
3. Application Deadline

The deadlines for applying for admission into the Computational Neuroscience specialization are those of the home graduate program.  See Neuroscience or Physics and Astronomy.
4. Advanced Credit

The applicant should make requests for advanced credit at the time of application, as part of the admissions process.  Credit may be granted for appropriate courses to count towards the specialization with approval of the Computational Neuroscience program. See Advanced Credit for further information.
5. Program Requirements

MSc or PhD in Neuroscience with an Interdisciplinary Specialization in Computational Neuroscience

In addition to meeting the requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Cumming School of Medicine (Neuroscience), MSc students are required to select one 3-unit course from the Computational series (listed below).  This course is expected to be Medical Science 755, Introduction to Computational Neuroscience, unless approval is received from the program to substitute another Computational series course.

PhD students are required to select two 3-unit courses from the Computational series (listed below).  One of these courses is expected to be Medical Science 755, Introduction to Computational Neuroscience, unless approval is received from the program to substitute another Computational series course.
