Students applying to this program must submit their applications to CEERE through the MEng office.

Environmental Engineering is also offered as an interdisciplinary specialization for the following degrees:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
  • Master of Science (MSc), thesis-based
  • Master of Engineering (MEng), thesis-based and course-based

For more information on these degrees, see Interdisciplinary Specializations.

2. Admission Requirements

In addition to the minimum requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Schulich School of Engineering, the program requires:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Applicants with non-engineering undergraduate degrees may be admitted on a case-by-case basis and are required to take additional prerequisite courses, as prescribed by CEERE. See Engineering Programs.

4. Advanced Credit

See Engineering Programs.

5. Program Requirements

In addition to Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Schulich School of Engineering requirements, all students will be required to complete 30 units as follows:

a) 12 units of required courses:

b) 15 units of environmental engineering courses:

c) 3 units chosen from:

Courses attempted but failed (with a grade of “C+” or lower) must be successfully repeated with a grade of at least a “B-“ in each course. Any course deficiency must be cleared at the next available opportunity.

Flexible Grade Option (CG Grade)

Students admitted to the Schulich School of Engineering will not be allowed to request the Flexible Grade Option (CG Grade) for any course that is applicable to their degree; or apply any course awarded a grade of CG towards their graduation requirements.

Students may choose the CG grade for a course taken extra to load.

The use of the CG grade will affect students' eligibility for internal awards.
