Fair Trade

Fair Trade

In 2015, UCalgary became the first designated Fair Trade Campus in Alberta and the tenth in Canada. Students in the University of Calgary chapter of Engineers Without Borders led the drive for fair trade designation. They worked with staff in Food and Conference Services and the Office of Sustainability to achieve the designation and to ensure our continued commitment. In 2018, UCalgary won Fairtrade Canada's Fairtrade Campus of the Year Award.

Community Garden

Community Garden

The Campus Community Garden provides a space for campus and community members to grow their own food and connect on projects that support sustainable food systems and healthy eating. Anyone can join the Community Garden Club to begin harvesting the benefits of local eating.

Campus Food Bank

Campus Food Bank

Administered through SU Volunteer Services, the SU Campus Food Bank provides a seven-day emergency food relief service to the campus community. This relief is provided through nutritionally sound hampers in accordance with the Canada Food Guide, along with information regarding resources available on and off-campus.
