Workshops

Resume and cover letter lab

The resume is meant to convey your skills and experiences in a clear, concise, and effective manner. Learn the tips and strategies on how to write a resume that is targeted and eye-catching.

There will be an opportunity to work on your resume and cover letter as you get direct feedback. Please bring your resume, cover letter and a job posting you'd like to apply to (if applicable).

Ace the interview

Interviews are like exams, you have to put in the time to study and practice, but this exam isn’t about any specific school subject – it’s all about you.

“How do I talk about myself? What questions can I expect?”

Discover the steps to help you prepare and succeed in the interview, and learn how to speak confidently about your skills and accomplishments. In addition, learn why it is important to follow-up after the interview.

Job search: It’s all about networking

“What kinds of jobs are out there? Where can I find these opportunities?”

Take control of your job search! Discover the steps on how to network effectively and how you can create your own opportunities.  In addition, we will show you how to utilize online job boards/sites to expand your search.

LinkedIn Lab

This hands-on lab teaches students several aspects of creating an effective LinkedIn profile and how this platform can be useful in job search and networking. Learn how to configure and optimize your account and privacy settings, develop a professional profile, join groups, research and follow companies, and connect with others. You may wish to bring a digital headshot of yourself for your profile photo and your resume to help you with the experience sections of your profile.

Networking for introverts (and extroverts too!)

Networking is hard, and it may be more challenging if you are introverted. In this workshop, we'll discuss the differences between introverts and extroverts, and how each type handles networking situations.

Be prepared to practice, discuss, and share ideas and strategies that will help one another out!
