Graduate students are responsible for their basic health-care coverage and must be enrolled in a provincial health plan or its equivalent. The Graduate Student Association arranges an extended health and dental benefit plan which is compulsory for most full-time students unless proof of alternative coverage (i.e., Blue Cross, Clarica). To opt-out, students must provide their name and UCID with a copy of their coverage to the GSA either online (https://gsa.ucalgary.ca/health-dental-services/) or in person to the GSA Office in Earth Sciences, Room 1030 before the fee payment deadline.
Family Coverage must be applied for before the fee deadline. Part-time students, designated distance delivery programs, and the Executive MBA are automatically excluded from the Health and Dental Plan, but may apply to the GSA to purchase this coverage.
