Alan Mulally on putting people first: ‘Love ’em up’

Putting people first means that you “love ‘em up,” says Alan Mulally, the CEO best known for turning around Ford and Boeing. That happens by recognizing everybody is important, that humanity and dignity is important.

“When you’re making a new airplane, there are 500,000 to 600,000 people around the world working to make it happen,” he said. “These talented people are committing their life to it. It is like building a cathedral to them.”

These individuals must know they are seen, appreciated and included, says Mulally.

In this clip, Mulally explains why it is essential to include all stakeholders in every step of every project.
