Our other campuses
Foothills campus
Home to the Cumming School of Medicine and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, this campus is located about a kilometre south of the main campus, next to the Foothills Medical Centre.
Downtown campus
Located in Calgary’s downtown core, this campus offers select graduate level and executive educational programming through the Haskayne School of Business and The School of Public Policy. The university’s Alumni Association is headquartered here, in a learning hub that also offers convenient meeting and function space for the city’s business community.
Spy Hill campus
UCalgary's Agricultural Research Centre was established on more than 500 acres in northwest Calgary. Today, the Spy Hill Campus houses facilities related to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and is also the site of the university’s advanced High-Density Library storage facility.
Doha, Qatar campus
UCalgary opened its first overseas branch campus in Doha, Qatar in 2007. Today, the University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ) educates future nursing leaders in the region.
Field stations and other facilities
Students and scholars – and the community at large – have access to a unique collection of facilities located across southern Alberta and beyond.
Rothney Astrophysical Observatory (RAO)
As well as providing university students with the opportunity to use research-grade telescopes, the RAO also serves the community as a resource to science educators and as a catalyst for science education in Alberta. More than 8,000 members of the general public connect with the universe each year through public events and open houses.
W.A. Ranches
W.A. Ranches is a 19,000-acre cattle ranch operation northeast of Cochrane, Alberta that was donated to the University of Calgary in 2018. The ranch will become a world-class teaching, learning and research facility, as well as a real-life training facility for veterinary medicine students.
R.B. Miller Station
Located in the Sheep River Provincial Park, 110 kilometres southwest of Calgary, this research station is favoured by animal behaviour researchers for its isolated location and proximity to large animal populations. Many long-term studies have been conducted there over decades on local wildlife.
Barrier Lake Ecological Research Station
The Barrier Lake Station, built in 1967, is located in the Kananaskis Valley, 80 kilometres west of Calgary. Dozens of research programs conducted there address everything from the lifecycle of bark beetles, animal nutrition, plant reproduction and pollinator behaviour to climate warming, forest evolution, and stressors on mountain lakes.
